Orion Books a U.K. company has released a compilation of H.P. Lovecraft stories in a two volume series. The books resemble old bibles similar to the ancient scriptures talked of in Lovecraft’s work. The love and care put into these collector pieces is astounding. One, a “best of” titled Necronomicon features a golden Cthulhu on the cover and a Cthulhu idol on the spine, the other a miscellany of his lesser known work titled Eldritch Tales features a golden Deep One on the cover with a portrait of the man himself on the spine. The two volumes have a good number of illustrations throughout with Necronomicon also featuring a map of the fictional city of Arkham circa 1930. Eldritch Tales rounds out with an outro of sorts probing into the history of Lovecraft’s writing, and Necronomicon finishes with a detailed biography of the Elder God’s brain child. These volumes are a Lovecraft fan’s dream, experiencing the terrifying unknown has never felt richer. You can wrap your tentacles around these gems for the surprisingly low cost of around 20-30 bucks a piece!
If you never heard of Lovecraft before you’re probably aware of his work. Lovecraft has influenced numerous artists in every medium, most notably filmmakers such as John Carpenter, Stuart Gordon, and Guillermo Del Toro. Great tributes of praise have also come from musicians such as Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate, and Metallica to name a few.
