Long reputed to be one of the scariest games made, I put myself to the test and loaded this baby in a pitch black room, alone, with headphones on for maximum atmosphere.

I just grabbed this in a super cheap flash sale on PSN so wanted to dive in and see what it’s all about. I’d played a bit on my PC years ago but didn’t get very far and couldn’t remember much.
The Amnesia Dark Descent Plot As I Understand It
Playing a character named Daniel, I’ve just recovered from drinking an amnesia cocktail and collapsing to the floor of an old dilapidated estate.
Wandering through the dark corridors of the estate, I’m continually weaving in and out from one hallucination to another.
I’ve found a note that has instructed me to kill a man named Alexander who resides in the inner sanctum, wherever that is.
There is a shadow following me, probably responsible for the hallucinations and that’s pretty much all the info I’ve got to go on.
How to Stay Alive – Stay Out of the Darkness
Sanity ticks down as I venture into the darkness. My heart starts to pound, and my vision distorts.
Every time I end up in a dark area, things get worse and worse.
I’m looting tinderboxes to light up torches throughout the estate making small pockets of light where I can seek asylum from the insanity approaching from all around me.
Wandering around in circles, I’m lost and do not know what I need to do to escape this first section of the estate.
There must be a switch to a secret passageway somewhere…
