Story

It is Christmas Eve and Jodie is off to visit her mother in another city, when she arrives there she catches her mother having sex with a man, causing her anger as the relationship between the two of them are already broken for reasons not shared in the movie.

Only a few moments later, military personnel have surrounded the cul-de-sac and are forcing everybody to stay inside. Unaware of why the military is there, all of the residents are terrified, paranoid, and eager to figure out what is happening.

Characters

The acting in this movie is well done.

Out of all the characters in this movie, it seems that only four of them play important roles, those characters being the mother, the daughter who is rarely seen, and the mutant as it is causing all of this trouble.

The mother was a great character in the movie, and her role can send people a bit of a message if you see it the way I did. Her daughter and her have a lot of issues with their relationship, causing her daughter to think that she does not care about her. However, during everything that is going on, she has one concern and that is making sure her daughter is okay, who happened to take off across the street… Unfortunately, nobody is allowed to leave their home under the military’s demands.

The mother’s friend was important, he has a family of his own but fought for his and the mother’s safety during the events taking place, leaving a few bodies behind, he accomplished the goal of making sure she was safe. The actor did a great job at playing this character.

The mutant was great, although only being shown for roughly five – ten minutes throughout the entire movie, the effects done on him were very appealing.

The daughter makes the entire movie what it is, without her the story would for the most part be pointless, and the ending would not be what it was. Although she is only seen at the beginning and end of the movie. Her acting was surprisingly good, although definitely not flawless.

Gore/Special Effects

The effects on the creature were wonderful, and seemed quite realistic, although it was nothing that could give you any fear of it.

As for the gore, it was well done but sometimes seemed comical, making it seem quite out of place in a movie like this as I believe the movie was meant to look and seem as realistic as one like this possibly could, it ruined any realism I thought it had.

Final Head Count

The first thirty minutes of this movie were interesting, and very suspenseful, during the beginning I was just about at the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next.

After that though, the movie seemed to become more uninteresting.

Nobody in the movie ever seemed to be in any real danger as the creature was never really shown much, and most of the time they were hiding in their house, while all of the action was happening outside.

A few scenes were very well done, making the rest seem like garbage in comparison.

It was somewhat difficult to follow the movie at times as it was going from one thing to another, but it was an alright movie in the end, I use that word lightly.
